Jaipur : Medical college students and resident doctors took out a rally here Thursday to protest the governments decision to implement caste-based quotas in central universities and institutions of higher education.
We want the government to take a re-look at the reservation issue, Rashim Kataria, president of Youth for Equality, Jaipur chapter, told IANS.
Kataria said the students and doctors would intensify their stir if the government does not give in to their demands.
The resident doctors, medical students and interns have been protesting the decision by the government to provide 27 percent reservation for the other backward classes in government-aided institutions of higher education. Initially, the nationwide protests had started in April-May.
The protests started again when the cabinet decided Monday to introduce a bill in the ongoing session of parliament to implement the reservations.
