Box-office history at Pink City multiplexes
Boom in weekend viewing Gone are the days of silver jubilees and golden jubilees. Now a few weekends take a film to become a mega hit. It is Friday to Sunday that attract larger crowds than the first four days even in case of a new release.
In case of hit and superhit Hindi films like Krrish, Fanaa and Phir Hera Pheri too, the first-day first-show had 80-85 per cent collection, while they had 100 per cent collection in other shows.
Craze for first-day first-show mostly depends on the film. According to Sunil Kumar, distributor (T Naveen Pictures), If the starcast of the film is good or its songs are superhit, there is considerable craze for the first-day first-show.
Also, it has been the experience that response on first day attracts audience on second day. Of course, the first-day first-show attracts the youth in larger numbers.
Ajaypal Singh, GM, Inox Multiplex which comprises two screens, says, There is a class of people in Jaipur eager to see English films. Its our effort to screen Hollywood films along with Hindi films in very near future. Superman had a good response because of the summer vacation for school and college. The film benefitted 100 per cent collections only on weekends. According to CS Jan, Manager (operations), Space Multiplex, Superman, dubbed in Hindi, had a good reponse. But there are people who are eager to see the film in English alone. Attempt is being made to screen two shows of English versions. First show of the film had lesser attendance, as compared to 100 per cent collection in weekend shows. We got response from the set audience for this film.
