Kolkata : Representatives of the minority communities today condemned the incident in Jaipur where a Sikh students hair was forcibly snipped.
The West Bengal Minorities Co-ordination Committee along with other representative organisations of the Sikh community had submitted a memorandum to Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi on this issue yesterday.
The Muslims, Christians and Buddhists condemn the incident and demand an immediate punishment for the miscreants. We also need an assurance that incidents of this nature will not recur in future, said Herod Mullik, convenor, West Bengal Minorities Co-ordination Committee.
A spokesperson for the Central Gurudwara Committee, West Bengal, a parent organisation for Sikh institutions and gurdwaras, said that in West Bengal people at large are aware of the Sikh conventions, especially the Keshadhari discipline.
