Jaipur’s veteran journalist seeks court’s permission for a dignified death

By Lokendra Singh, Jaipur: Euthanasia or, the right to die by personal choice, has long been an issue of international debate. Recently, a veteran journalist in Jaipur has triggered the debate once again by filing a petition in Rajasthan High Court seeking permission to die without pain or causing indignity to his life.

Giriraj Prasad Gupta, a 79 –year-old senior freelance journalist and a resident of Jaipurs Sultan Nagar colony has asked the court to seeking permission to die and urging not to held anyone responsible for his death.

Living a life of a diabetic and a patient of hernia, prostate and a fracture in leg has compelled him to go ahead with such a step to end a life full of miseries. He says that he can empathise the trauma and mental condition of those who are confronting a similar situation. And, for the welfare of all in long term he has taken the initiative.
